USB Webcam Not Recognized Windows 10
If your USB webcam is "Not Recognized" or shows "Device Descriptor Request Failed" in Windows 10, it's usually a USB port power surge or a driver handshake timeout. Againly fixes this automatically by resetting the USB root hub power state without a system reboot.
Why this happens
- Power Suspension: Windows has disabled the USB port to save power.
- Hardware ID Conflict: Two devices are trying to use the same "Interrupt Request" (IRQ) line.
- Legacy Driver Conflict: An old driver for a different camera is interfering with the new one.
Fix it manually
- Change Ports: Move the camera from a USB 2.0 to a USB 3.0 (blue) port.
- Disable Power Management: Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers > Right click "USB Root Hub" > Properties > Power Management > Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device."
- Uninstall Host Controller: Uninstall the USB Host Controller in Device Manager and restart.
Fix it automatically with Againly
Againly's "ForceConnect" module re-initializes the USB stack for your camera, bypassing Windows' faulty power-saving logic.
