USB Microphone Not Recognized – Driver Fix
USB microphones like the Blue Yeti or Elgato Wave often fail because of "USB Hub Power Management." Againly fixes this automatically by disabling power-saving for your USB root hubs and forcing a hardware re-scan.
Why this happens
- Power Throttling: Windows 11 turns off "idle" USB ports, which often disconnects microphones mid-use.
- Driver Descriptor Failure: The "USB Composite Device" driver can become corrupt, leading to "Device Descriptor Request Failed."
Fix it manually
- Change USB Port: Always use a port directly on the motherboard (back of PC), not a hub or case port.
- Disable Power Management: In Device Manager, right-click USB Root Hub > Properties > Power Management > Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device."
- Uninstall in Device Manager: Right-click the unrecognized device and select Uninstall, then replug the mic.
